It is official….Mabel and Cruiser are expecting their first litter together at the end of October 2010. We are really excited. They are two of the most laid back, loving frenchies. We will post pictures and details after the puppies arrive.

We would like to announce that we recently added a beautiful boy to our family. His name is CH. RockN’Roll’s Show Me The Money aka Cruiser. You can check out a photo of him on our stud page. He is such a beautiful, sweet boy. Our Mabel and Cruiser will be breeding in 2010.

Not a Good Day

Today was the day of our x- ray. Things did not go as planned. If you remember we had a little trouble with the sonogram because Ethel was full of gas pockets. She has really gotten much bigger, just didn’t seem like she was pregnant. But the vet thought she saw two sacks on the sonogram. Today the x-ray showed nothing. Needless to say we were very disappointed, not totally surprised, but let down. We will just have to wait until her next heat cycle and try again. We will continue to blog about the life of Ethel, and thanks everyone for visiting our site.

The Nursery

Well it’s time to start setting up the puppy area. I can’t believe how quickly the time has flown. Before we know it our little French Bulldogs will be born. Our x-ray is scheduled for Saturday, then we will schedule a delivery date. Ethel is still very small, so I do believe she will have a small litter. All that matters is that she is healthy and that the puppies are healthy. Her well being is our primary concern. She doesn’t seem phased by the changes her body is going through. I had forgotten how well the bulldog breed hide their pregnancy for such a long time. Ethel’s chest has gotten deeper, so her belly doesn’t look much bigger at all. The nursery area for our frenchies will be in our main part of the house so we can watch the puppies and Ethel very closely. The puppies will be taken care of by both Ethel and ourselves so that every precaution is taken in raising them. Time to get busy, until next time…….

Showtime

Today was a dog show practically at our back door. There was a small entry of French Bulldogs. We did not enter Ethel however Franke was entered. He took a first in his class, but that was it for today. Tomorrow morning he will be in the ring again at 8:00. Everyone just stopped to admire him, and he ate it right up! He is such a flirt especially with the women. We also met some nice people from the French Bulldog Rescue. They have a link with Ebay for Frenchie lovers to make donations. It is important that we help keep these groups going for the French Bulldogs who are not quite as fortunate as ours.

Week 6

Today starts the 6th week of Ethel’s pregnancy. Wednesday’s are quilting day with friends. All we talked about was the anticipation of the arrival of the little french bulldogs. Everyone is excited to see how cute they are when they are so little. If only Ethel knew howmany people are waiting and watching. Not a whole lot to report today except for the continued current of excitement, it is like electricity in our home. If only all animals could be so loved. We can only pray for the safety of all the unwanted animals in the shelters, that they too find loving homes. It is very important to be responsible in breeding your dogs, so that when you place them they do not end up in a shelter.

Starting to Blossom

Our little french bulldog girl is starting to fill out ever so slightly. Her pregnancy is progressing nicely. We will have her x-ray done in 10 more days. The appointment is scheduled for early in the morning so that hopefully she won’t be full of gas again!!!! If you have a french bulldog you probably are laughing right now, and for those of you who don’t have the enjoyment of a frenchie, well let me tell you they can clear a room. There is nothing that compares to owning a french bulldog. You have the size of a medium breed dog, with the attitude of a small breed dog. Ethel is very much a lap dog. She loves to cuddle. And boy does she enjoy company. She has developed a dislike of the Swiffer. Our little pet chihuahua Nacho chases the Swiffer and barks madly at it the whole time and Ethel loves to join in the game. She does her best at imitating a chihuahua. What a site to see!

Pregnancy for our little french bulldog hasn’t seemed to change her one bit. She is vibrant and full of life. We have to laugh at her, she has a way of getting what she wants. We keep a treat jar by the back door, so when ever Ethel goes outside and comes back in, of course she gets a treat. Well now she constantly wants out only to turn around immediately and bark to come back in to the house. She sits herself down thinking here comes the treat. Of course, she still gets a treat when she earns it, but if we fed her one every time she would waddle when she walked. You have to give her credit for trying.The french bulldog is very smart, or so they think……..
